Universal Orlando Vacation: Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will run during Halloween Horror Nights

Will you be on your Orlando vacation during Halloween Horror Nights this year? Well, you can believe your eyes: The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster will operate during Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios theme park this year. The thrill ride is listed on the Horror Nights website as one of the attractions available during the event, and a Universal spokesperson confirms it.

It will be the first time the coaster has run during the Halloween event, which begins Sept. 23 for 25 select evenings. Rockit, which opened in August 2009, was listed on HHN maps in a previous year, but the reference was removed before opening day.

Rockit allows individual riders to pick from a list of songs that will be played during the ride. The playlist will not be altered to include spookier or Halloween-oriented music for HHN.

Other attractions listed on the website as open during HHN include the Simpsons Ride, Revenge of the Mummy coaster, Men in Black Alien Attack and Jaws. Horror Nights includes eight haunted-house mazes, six scare zones and two stage shows.

Universal recently announced that Rockit’s playlist would include some Christian artists during the theme park’s Rock the Universe event, which is this Friday and Saturday. Although it was announced as special to the concert event, riders were able to use the codes and hear new songs, including Brandon Heath’s “The One,” (code 776) and Switchfoot’s “Mess of Me” (code 773) on Sunday.
